KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Kansas City, Kansas police have called off an Amber alert for a missing 6-year-old girl.
Wyandotte County deputies took Amia Walker's mom into custody Wednesday afternoon. A sheriff's office spokesperson said the girl's mom has not been charged, but could face child endangerment charges.
Authorities said when Walker got off the bus and went to her house, her mother was not there. According to authorities, the girl has been told to go to a neighbor's house if her mother was not home when she got off the bus.
The girl did go to a neighbor's house and left with the neighbor to run errands. Authorities said they were able to reach the neighbor, who brought the child home.
Walker is in protective custody at this time.
