KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Two adults and two children went to hospitals Tuesday afternoon after their car slammed into a brick townhome and caught fire.
The incident happened about 12:25 p.m. at the Stonehedge Townhomes in the 1700 block of Meadowlark Court.
The adults were taken to the University of Kansas Hospital and the children to Children's Mercy Hospital. The male driver was said to have suffered a head injury, while the others were more minor.
A fire department spokesman said it's not clear what caused the car to leave the road and crash into one of the townhomes.
The yellow Chevrolet Camaro sustained heavy front-end damage from the impact and engine fire.
Fire crews knocked the flames down quickly, and the fire did not spread inside the townhhomes.
The crash also knocked several bricks from the building.
The total damage to the car and building was estimated at $20,000.
