LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - A 25-year-old man from rural Jefferson County, Kan., lost his life in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday in western Leavenworth County.
His name had not been released as of Sunday afternoon, pending notification of his relatives.
A Leavenworth County Sheriff’s officer said two men were riding in a vehicle that, for some reason, left the road and overturned about 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of 251st Street and Ragtown Road.
The 25-year-old passenger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner. The 18-year-old driver, who is from the Topeka area, had only minor injuries. He was conscious after the crash and was interviewed by the authorities, they said.
He was transported to an area hospital where he underwent a drug and alcohol blood test. The driver was released after the test was completed.
The investigation into the crash continues.
