Investigators say about 7 a.m., a car with Texas plates was headed southbound on I-35 when it swerved off the road, overcorrected and slammed into the median.
A Kansas Highway Patrol officer witnessed the accident and as he was approaching, two men got out of the vehicle and appeared to begin chasing each other, police said.
Both men were apprehended and taken to the hospital for apparent stab wounds. One of the men has since died from his injuries.
Skytracker arrived over the scene around 7:30 a.m. to find the white four-door vehicle with more than a dozen emergency vehicles surrounding it blocking the highway.
What appeared to be blood spots and spatter could be seen both on and near the vehicle.
The victim had yet to be identified early Tuesday afternoon.
Joe Wallace, owner of General Springs, a truck company saw all the commotion when her arrived at work.
Wallace said, "There were probably ten police cars , fire trucks and assistance vehicles. You are not used something happening that close to you. As you say in your own back yard, it's pretty amazing doesn't really happen every day."
And drivers say the scene held up traffic for hours. We spoke to one woman who said it took her an hour to get through one exit.
Authorities say they are investigating it as a homicide.
