OLATHE, Kan. - - School officials and police were tipped off about a Facebook post two Olathe teens made on Thursday.
Police said the post was about generic threats targeting Pioneer Trail Middle School.
Officers talked to the two teens and investigators determined the posts were a "prank" made with bad judgment.
School officials say there is no threat to the school and the issue is resolved.
Police said charges have not been filed against the teens, but prosecutors will review the case.
Some Olathe parents said this incidents like this prompted them to remove social media from the home.
"We just had him take it down and thy see each other everyday at school and we so believe that he would be influence by things that would be influenced on Facebook," said parent Maria Balsly.
The school district posted this statement about the incident.
"It was brought to our attention late Friday afternoon of possible threats made on a Facebook page concerning Pioneer Trail Middle School. The safety of our students is our first priority and we take all threats very seriously. The district worked closely with law enforcement officials and the issue was swiftly resolved. The issue is now a police matter. The district is very appreciative of the strong partnership it has with the Olathe Police Department and the caring parent community."
