OLATHE, Kan. - Two family pets died in a house fire in Johnson County, Kan., Sunday night.

The Olathe Fire Department reports a call came in around 11:30 p.m. on a house fire in the 12000 block of S. Pflumm Road.

Arriving crews found flames and thick smoke coming from the home.

A man, woman and one dog were able to escape, but another dog and a cat perished in the fire, according to a statement from the Olathe Fire Department.

It took firefighters from Olathe, Overland Park and Lenexa about an hour to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
