OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Extra police patrols were expected in some areas of Overland Park Wednesday, a day after a teenage girl says a man tried to abduct her.
The Overland Park Police Department said they will be patrolling all grade schools and middle schools in the northern part of the city.
The girl described the suspect as a man in his 30s with a trimmed beard and mustache. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and lgasses.
The girl says she was on her way to her bus stop Tuesday morning near 80th and Glenwood when the man pulled up in a white pickup truck and told her to “get in.”
She told police the man had a gun, but did not point it at her.
The girl ran to her bus stop and told officials there what had happened.
If you know anything about what happened, you are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
