OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Police, fire and bomb squads secured an area around an Overland Park apartment complex office after somebody found what they thought was a stick of dynamite.
According to a statement from the Overland Park Police Department, the person found the object near a dumpster at the Wycliff West Apartments at 105th in Mastin and brought it into the apartment clubhouse.
The bomb squad examined the item and found that it was actually a road flare.
Police said the secured area included two nearby apartments that were evacuated. Authorities said they were clearing the scene after it was determined there was not threat.
