OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Authorities evacuated a Johnson County department store due to safety concerns from heavy snow on the roof on Wednesday.
Maintenance crews at the Metcalf South Macy’s, 9517 Metcalf, noticed a sprinkler had dropped three inches out of the ceiling and were worried about the structure withstanding the four feet on snow on the roof.
The department store has brought on a structural engineer to investigate the incident.
Macy’s was the only store evacuated.
