BATES COUNTY, Mo. - A missing Overland Park man who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found dead Wednesday afternoon.
A family member confirmed that the body of 66-year-old David Lee Dotson was discovered in Bates County, Mo.
The relative said the family believes Dotson was on a fishing trip and had a medical emergency but was unable to call for help.
He was an insulin-dependent diabetic.
Dotson hadn't been seen or heard from since Thursday, Aug. 9.
A family friend said they are relieved Dotson was found but are deeply saddened that he was not found alive.
