OVERLAND PARK, Kan - The mother of a wounded marine will receive help to bring her son home.

The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes is giving $2,500 to Corporal Yev Shenker.

He lost his leg last January in Afghanistan.

His mother depleted her savings flying to California to support him through 20 surgeries.

Facing foreclosure and without money for any more trips to visit her son, the coalition stepped in to help.

"It is very important that in their recovery that they have a loved one around to support them because it can get pretty lonely in a hospital a thousand miles away. If there's nobody there from the family it can be very depressing for them," said Mike Meyer with the Coalition.

If you know a wounded soldier who struggling financially -- the Coalition wants to help.

You can make a request at www.saluteheroes.org .
