EDWARDSVILLE, Kan. - A 67-year-old Johnson County man died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash in Edwardsville.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report, Richard E. Meuten, of Lenexa, Kan., was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla at about 11:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 435 at about Kansas Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle.

The car crossed the median into northbound lanes, went over the Kansas Avenue ramp and collided with a tree, the report said.

Emergency responders took Meuten to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he died about three hours later.

Meuten was the only person in the vehicle, according to the report. He was wearing a seat belt.
