Wyandotte County commissioner Tarence Maddox responded to a report by 41 Action News showing a history of run-ins with authorities.
“If you look up the history of anybody, you find something,” Maddox said before Thursday’s county commission meeting.
Maddox downplayed his arrest record. 41 Action News asked Maddox about the interactions with police where he emphasized he was a commissioner.
“I whispered to him ‘I’m an elected official,’” he said. “I said, ‘this is detrimental to my character, detrimental to my reputation in the community.’ And I said if there is another way we can handle it.”
Maddox was given an opportunity to respond to accusations of resisting arrest after an incident at LEGOLAND.
“I was told by my attorney to wait and see after what happens on the court date and then make a response,” he said.
