BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - A water main broke near Vesper Street and Missouri Highway 7 in Blue Springs Thursday, just before 11 a.m.
According to Kim Nakahodo, City of Blue Springs spokesperson, sixteen inches of water cover the street, closing Vesper Street just east of Highway 7 and to R.D. Mize Road.
Four local businesses were open Thursday were impacted by the break. According to Nakahodo, it was up to them to decide if they wanted to stay open, yet all businesses had to abide by the Jackson County Health Department rules.
Nakahondo says crews located the source of the water main break and are made repairs. The process took a few hours, but was fixed around 9:45 p.m.
No boil order was issued, but some homes in the area experienced decreased water pressure.
