CLAYCOMO, Mo. - The auto industry is seeing a big impact thanks to booming truck sales, and Ford's Claycomo plant is reaping the benefits.
On Thursday, the president of Ford Motor Company will visit the local plant to announce a new work shift and new jobs.
The company will not say exactly how many jobs will be added until the announcement, but it's likely they will be tacked on to its successful F-150 line.
Ford promised at the beginning of 2013 to add 12,000 new jobs company-wide this year. The company confirmed Claycomo's additions will be among the biggest of the year.
The added jobs are good news for the Ford line and for the Claycomo businesses nearby.
"We'll add more shifts and more people on the shifts because we get more Ford people in here," explained Tim O'Shea, owner of Pour Boys gas station.
Governor Jay Nixon plans to be in Claycomo for the announcement Wednesday.
