INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Independence Police need help finding a person involved in a hit and run at a CVS on 24 Highway in October.

Police said the damage to the car was enough to warrant felony charges. Video shows a woman walked out of the store, got into a dark-colored truck and backed up. The woman hit the vehicle behind her and barely missed the woman in front of her before she drove off.

It’s not an uncommon event, according to insurance agents.

“20 percent of all accidents are a result of parking lot accidents,” Insurance Agent Kim Downy Noble said.

Noble said hit and run accidents usually cost the victim because the repair rarely exceeds the client’s deductible.

“Often times, they’re not severe in damage,” Noble said. “But they’re time consuming – they’re aggravating to the person who had no fault in the situation.

Independence Police are looking for help finding the driver. The accident happened on Oct. 27 and damaged the right front fender, grill and turn signal light of the victim’s car.

If you have any information on the crime, call the TIPS hotline.
