INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The movie "Patriot Guard Riders" debuts Sunday at the Independence, Mo., Film, Art & Music Festival.
The film covers funerals of young soldiers killed in action and is told through the eyes of a 200,000 member-strong motorcycle group formed to protect grieving families from members of the Westboro Baptist Church who are best known for picketing funerals.
The riders escort the fallen soldiers from the airfield to the burial grounds, where they form a protective shield of honor and respect. Director Ellen Frick will attend the screening and speak about her experience making the film as well as give an update on recent activities.
The film will begin at noon on Sunday, August 11th at Graceland University.
