INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Police are searching for a person of interest after an Independence shooting left one man in critical condition.
Police were called to 13th and Sterling around 6 a.m. When authorities arrived, they found a victim, a white male in his 30s, with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have identified a person of interest as 28-year-old Nicholas L. Cannon. He is described as 5-foot-9, 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Cannon was seen leaving the scene in a white Chevrolet SUV with Missouri plates. He is also said to have his 4-year-old daughter with him.
Police advise those who know where Cannon may be to avoid contact with him and call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS or the Independence Police Department at 816-836-3600.
