INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - While farmers and many homeowners are happy to see the rain, vendors and organizers of this year's Santa-Cali-Gon Days are wet with frustration.
The rain and wind from Tropical Depression Isaac forced organizers to shut down the festival around 5:30 p.m. Friday. When vendors returned Saturday morning, some found their tents had fallen and everything inside was soaked.
Michelle Lyon, a first-year vendor, said the soggy start is not enough to make her pack-up and go home.
"We're staying," she said. "We're in it for the long haul; we're not going anywhere. We drove 14 hours for this."
Santa-Cali-Gon days wraps up on Monday.
