LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - A teenager was seriously hurt in a shooting late Friday afternoon.
It happened in the 500 block of Northeast Castle Drive around 4:15 p.m.
Police said the victim is a 13-year-old girl who was visiting her friend who lives at the house. Police said the girl who lives at the house accidentally shot the 13-year-old girl.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Anthony Frasier lives across the street and said he heard what sounded like a gunshot. He said he initially thought the sound came from his TV, but moments later he knew something was wrong.
"I heard sirens, looked out," Frasier said. "Saw cars, cop cars, ambulances show up."
Frasier and his father Everett are hoping the young girl pulls through.
"I just hope that she makes it, and I feel for the family," Everett said. "My prayers go out to them. I called my church and put everybody's name involved on the prayer list."
The Frasiers said the girl who police say pulled the trigger lives in the home with her mom and her mom's boyfriend.
Police said there were other people inside the home at the time of the shooting.
