LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - A group of the postmaster's biggest customers met in Lee’s Summit to make certain the future of the post office is secure.
The mailers' technical advisory committee is a group that allows the postal service and private business owners to work together in shaping the future of mail services.
Committee members say even as the post office scales back, the biggest hurdle to getting the mail delivered on time.
"A lot of people in the mailing industry are concerned about the predictability of the mail being delivered on time. Both if you're mailed a bill to someone, or statements, or if you're marketing information to customers that would be interested in that, to get it there at a certain time is important to them,” said Steve Brocker, vice president of Western States Envelope and Label.
According to the Institute of Postal Studies, there are 8. 7 million jobs tied to the mailing industry.
