KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police say the infant who died in Lee's Summit, Mo. , on Thursday had accidentally been left in a car all day.

The 13-month-old's mother thought she had dropped the child off at daycare before she went to work, according to Lee's Summit Police.

Instead, the child spent the workday inside the vehicle.

The mother called 911 Thursday evening when she saw that the infant was unresponsive. There's been no word on when she realized the baby had been left in the car.

Authorities are calling the death a "tragic accident" and say there are no signs of foul play.

Yesterday's high was 83 degrees, which means the car's internal temperature could have hit  well over 100.
