KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A water main break has disrupted service and put 500 households under a boil advisory in Lee's Summit.
The city says the 12-inch break happened near Anderson Drive and Hidden Valley Drive, by the Oak Ridge Meadows subdivision on Monday afternoon.
Water was shut off in the area for about two and a half hours while repairs were made.
The streets affected are highlighted in the map above. They include:
Anderson Drive, Plantation Lane, Moonlight Meadows, Maybrook, Misty Meadows, Hidden Meadow, N.E. Park Ridge Drive, Coral, Sapphire, Ruby, Turquoise, Pearl, Hidden Ridge Lane, Oaks Ridge Drive, Oaks Ridge Lane, Sunrise Meadows, Velie, Promised View, Northgate Crossing and Emerald.
The city says residents should boil water for three minutes before drinking it or using it to cook food. Water should also be boiled before using it to brush teeth, the city says.
"The water is safe for other purposes such as bathing," the city said in a statement on their website, "but children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water."
Lee’s Summit is already under a voluntary water restriction .
