LIBERTY, Mo. - A local high school band is getting the chance of a lifetime in the new year.

They get to play at the Presidential Inauguration next month, an honor bestowed on only one band from each state.

The students auditioned over the summer and found out last night at their winter concert they would be heading to Washington.

“This is something that when they’re my age, 30s, 40s and 50s, they will get to remember they did this as part of their high school band,” director Shane Fuller said.

The band will perform the Liberty Bell March in the parade.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that I know I’ll remember forever and it just means a lot that we were picked to do this and that we’re able to represent Liberty,” student Taylor Diggs said.
