LIBERTY, Mo. - The Liberty North High School tennis team had quite the warm-up this week, shoveling a foot of snow off their courts.
Coach Art Smith said he's cleared plenty of snow-packed courts in his 14 years of coaching, but none quite like this.
"Kind of had a nasty week in regards to spring sports, so we just thought we try to get a little bit of a head start, put everybody to a little blue-collar work out here," he said. "It's good for the guys. We get to hang out together and talk to each other a little more than we would in the first couple of days of practice. I don't think it hurts anybody."
The team hopes to be able to use all three courts on Monday. Their first match in March 18.
