Liberty Police officially identified the body found Friday near South Valley Junior High School as Chad Rogers.
Rogers' family confirmed the information Friday, but police were waiting for positive identification from the medical examiner's office in Jackson County.
Police said there was no foul play associated with his death, but that the cause of death will not be announced until the completion of an autopsy.
Rogers went for a run last Monday around 8 p.m. and never arrived home. His family used social media to get the word out about his disappearance. Massive search efforts took place over the next few days until a body was found in a portable toilet in a construction area near the school.
Rogers' family said a trust fund has been set up at US Bank branches under the name "Chad Rogers' Memorial Fund." A "Chad is Home" celebration is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at the Shoal Creek Community Church in Pleasant Valley.
Rogers was well known within the community. He was a graduate of Liberty High School. Rogers was a former youth director at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, Mo.
The family is also planning two benefits in memory of Rogers. A benefit concert and a run in his honor are both in the works, but dates have not been announced.
