LIBERTY, Mo. - Renee Pernice's parents were not surprised to hear Shon Pernice confess to killing their daughter.  Shon Pernice admitted to killing his wife Tuesday afternoon in a Clay County courtroom.

Renee Pernice's mother Linda Lockwood and her father Rick Pretz stood outside the front door of the courtroom shortly after the confession and said the news brings mixed emotions.

"The tears come from the sadness that I feel to know that my daughter was murdered," Lockwood said.  "The happiness comes from knowing that he has admitted it."

Pretz took a moment to publicly thank Clay County prosecutor Dan White.

"Many prosecutors would not risk their reputation to take a case when the victim's body is not part of the evidence," Pretz said.

White told reporters that Shon Pernice left Renee Pernice's body in a dumpster.  Her body was then taken to landfill and will never be found, according to White.

Lockwood and Pretz said its difficult knowing their daughter will never get a proper burial.

"There's nothing that can bring our daughter back," Lockwood said.

Shon's sentencing is scheduled for May 11.
