Aaron Murphy ran cross country with Rogers in high school and hopped on a plane from New Jersey to help.
"I dropped everything and got on the next plane to Kansas City to help and be a part of the search," he said.
Other friends in the area took emergency leave from work. His family is struggling to sit still.
"Every hour is another hour he's out there," Greg Rogers said, Chad's father.
Greg denies assumptions Chad might have left on his own.
"He loves his son so much and I just can't imagine him running away," he said.
Rogers’ family said he is an experienced runner who has completed the Boston Marathon and that this is not typical behavior for Rogers, who is a self-described stay-at-home father of one.
He was last seen wearing black running shorts, red running shoes, no shirt and a bright orange visor. He never jogged with an ID or cell phone.
A search of Rogers' cell phone and laptop came back inconclusive.
Family and friends have made a Facebook page called "Bring Chad Rogers Home" to post updates and gather information.
