More than 250 motorcycle riders revved up their bikes Saturday morning to help the families of a police officer and firefighter that were severely injured.
The ninth annual Guns and Hoses Ride in the Northland raised more than $16,000.
Half of the money raised will go to a Kansas City police officer who was injured off the job, while his wife was battling breast cancer.
The other half is going to a firefighter’s family from Osawatome, Kan.
After the ride, the Lenexa Police and Fire departments presented checks to the families.
