Woman killed in Northland crossover crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A fatal accident closed both directions of 152 Highway at Platte Purchase Road for several hours Wednesday evening.
Police said the crash occurred just before 6 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
According to investigators, a woman lost control of her vehicle, went through the median and into oncoming traffic. She collided head-on with a tractor trailer.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police department's accident investigation unit was sent to the scene. The highway was closed until early Thursday morning.

During Thanksgiving weekend last year, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported 576 collisions, resulting in 140 injuries, and one death. Numbers were recorded from 6 p.m. the day before Thanksgiving to midnight on the Sunday following the holiday, a 102-hour reporting period.
