KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Park Hill High School student is charged with unlawful use of a weapon after bringing a gun to school.
The charge was filed in Platte County juvenile court, and the student's name, age and grade level have not been released.
The incident happened at the end of the school day on Wednesday. A school district news release stated a student told a school administrator about the student with the gun.
A Platte County sheriff's deputy who works as a school resource officer found the student, according to the release. A handgun and ammunition were found in the student's coat.
The sheriff's department searched the school and found no other safety concerns.
The student was taken to the Clay County Juvenile Detention facility. He will be in court Friday for a hearing.
