NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A murder suspect who fired at police in the Northland is dead after a standoff that lasted several hours Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 10 a.m., police went to a home in the 5300 block of N. Denver to talk to a person of interest in connection with a weekend homicide in the 9400 block of N. Kenwood.
When they arrived, they made contact with the man, who refused to come outside.
Around 30 minutes later, the man came outside with a pistol and exchanged gunfire with police before going back in the house.
No officers were injured in the exchange.
Around 1 p.m., police told 41 Action News reporter Lisa Benson that the suspect was dead. No details on his death were immediately available.
Police are waiting for a search warrant to enter the home.
