KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police say a woman found unconscious near a kitchen sink may have died from gas asphyxiation after inhaling sewer gas.
Kansas City paramedics were dispatched out at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night to a home in the 300 block of N. Belmont.
Paramedics found a 44-year-old woman, later identified as Bernice Weaver, unconscious next to a kitchen sink in the house and started CPR.
Weaver was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
In their investigation of the scene, police described the kitchen as having a strong odor of sewer gas and advised the owner of the home to call a plumber to investigate the cause.
