KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Utility officials are looking into why nearly 4,000 people lost power Tuesday morning in northern Kansas City.
At one point, the Kansas City Power & Light online outage map showed more than 3,000 outages in zip codes 64118 and 64119. That covers an area from 48th Street north up to Barry Road and from 169 Highway east to I-35/435.
Other smaller outages were also reported in neighboring zip codes. The total number of outages in the KCP&L service area was 3,921 as of 11:18 a.m. By 12:58., that number had dwindled to 108.
On the phone, a KCP&L spokesman says they weren’t sure why the customers had lost electricity, but they were looking into a cause and were working to restore power.
