RAYTOWN, Mo. - The parents of Raytown South High School graduate Maurice Mitchell will soon be heading to the Olympics in London.

Enough money was raise that Maurice's parents, Mike and Rose Mitchell, were able to buy airline tickets to the games.

They also bought one for their daughter, Maisha.

Maurice will compete in the 200 meter run August 7, 8 and 9.

Legendary Raytown South basketball coach Bud Lathrop and the Raytown School District have been campaigning to raise money for the family.

On Wednesday, they’d collected about $1,300.

On Friday, they were up more than $4,000. The family hopes to raise more money to cover other expenses.
