LAWSON, Mo. - A water main break cut service to a couple thousand residents of a small town about 35 miles from Kansas City Thursday morning.
Lawson City Administrator Bryan Richison says workers noticed tower levels getting low around 1 a.m. Thursday. About an hour later, crews found a six-inch break in a 12-inch main from Excelsior Springs into Lawson.
The city’s public works crews repaired the main by about 11 a.m. Thursday.
All residents of the town are now under a boil order until at least Saturday.
The Lawson School District called off classes for Thursday because they didn't have any water service. School was back in session on Friday.
Lawson had about 2,400 residents, according to the 2010 U.S. Census.
