WASHINGTON, D.C. - In an article in POLITICO on Sunday, Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan) admitted that he took off all of his clothes and jumped into the Sea of Galilee.
The Republican Congressman represents the 3rd District in Kansas which includes Johnson County, Wyandotte County and parts of Douglas County. He took office in early 2011.
The POLITICO article stated that Yoder was on a fact-finding trip to the Holy Land in Israel last summer with some other Congressmen, their aids and some relatives.
POLITICO referenced an FBI Investigation that said following a night of dinner and drinking about 20 lawmakers and senior aids decided to jump into the Sea of Galilee. Some Congressmen were wearing their clothes, some were partially undressed and Congressman Yoder was the only one who removed all of his clothing, the article said .
In a statement to POLITICO, Congressman Yoder said:
“A year ago my wife, Brooke, and I joined colleagues for dinner at the Sea of Galilee in Israel. After dinner I followed some members of Congress in a spontaneous and very brief dive into the sea and regrettably I jumped into the water without a swimsuit. It is my greatest honor to represent the people of Kansas in Congress and (for) any embarrassment I have caused for my colleagues and constituents, I apologize."
