SACRAMENTO, Calif. - An airman from Kansas welcomed his soldier girlfriend home over the weekend with quite a surprise.

Ben Dellacca told his girlfriend, Robin, he would be stationed at Travis Air Force Base when she returned home to Sacramento International Airport, but instead, he was in the airport terminal waiting for her.

"I’m so nervous,” he said while waiting for her plane to arrive. “I'm not sure what to do."

It's been six months since he has seen Robin, who was coming home from a deployment in Afghanistan.

His plans did not come without the proper preparation.

"I asked her father for permission a while back and he gave me his blessing."

Finally the empty escalator turns full and Robin appears.

Surprised, Robin asks Ben what he’s doing there.

"I love you so much Robin. I want to spend the rest of my life with you," Ben said, getting down on one knee. "Will you marry me?”

To a terminal full of cheers, Robin said yes.

Ben is originally from Wichita, Kan. On her Facebook page, his sister said she is proud of her brother.
