OTTAWA, Kan. - A man has been arrested after a 4-year-old boy was shot in the leg at an Ottawa, Kan., home.
Brian Bruno, 39, was arrested for aggravated endangerment of a child, endangerment and criminal discharge of a firearm after the shooting Friday. He's expected to be charged next week.
While Bruno is not the boy's father, police say one of the parents was home at the time of the shooting.
Officers were called out to the 1100 block of N. Oak Street around 12:20 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found the boy shot in his upper leg.
He was treated at the scene and then taken to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. His injures, while serious, are not expected to be life threatening.
Bruno is being held at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center awaiting a formal court appearance.
