KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Kansas will have tougher admissions standards than the state’s other public colleges.

The Kansas Board of Regents approved a proposal today to boost requirements for incoming freshmen that will come into effect in 2016.

Admission will be automatic for applicants with at least a “B” average in high-school. Potential students who do not meet the requirement will have their applications reviewed by a committee.

University of Kansas officials say the change should improve graduation rates.
