ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Elko County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a 34-year-old Kansas man who collapsed in a canyon in northeast Nevada's Ruby Mountains.
The sheriff's office says Jamon Michael Lewis of Olathe was reported to be on foot by himself on Wednesday and appeared to be disoriented before authorities found him unconscious in Soldier Creek Canyon.
A helicopter and ambulance were dispatched to the area between Lamoille Canyon and Secret Pass but paramedics were unable to revive him.
Deputies said in a statement Friday they suspect Lewis died of a heat stroke but won't know until an autopsy is completed possibly next week.
