President Barack Obama will no longer be visiting the University of Kansas this Friday.
According to the White House, he'll now be traveling to Boston to speak at an interfaith service dedicated to victims of the marathon bombings Thursday.
KU officials released a statement supporting the president's decision.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the victims of this horrible tragedy. While we are disappointed that President Obama will not be on campus, a catastrophe of this type clearly takes precedence,” KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little said in the statement. “It was an honor to have been chosen to host the president, and we hope to do so another time."
