VALLEY FALLS, Kansas - A small community in northeast Kansas is trying to cope with the loss of four people killed in recent traffic accidents.

A 19-year-old woman died in a one-car crash Monday. Less than 48 hours later, another crash left three young sisters dead.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that all the victims were from small towns in Jefferson County.

The victims of the accidents this week were 19-year-old Beverly Bledsoe, of Valley Falls, who died Monday, and three young sisters, 8-year-old Katelynn, 5-year-old Alissa and 4-year-old Madelyn Spencer. The sisters died after a crash Wednesday. The were from the town of Meriden.

Valley Falls resident John Shipley says the whole community is numb, but is banding together to help each other through the loss.
