PAOLA, Kan. - Two girls were hit by a vehicle while riding a bike in Paola, Kan., late Friday afternoon. Both of them were seriously injured in the crash.
Rescue workers were called to the scene on the 400 block of E. Osage around 4:12 p.m. One girl was airlifted from a nearby park directly to Children's Mercy Hospital. The other was initially taken to Miami County Medical Center before being airlifted to Children's Mercy.
According to Paola Police, the girls are around 10 years old. They were on the same bike when they were hit.
The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
