CAMERON, Mo. - One person was killed Monday in a repair shop fire in Cameron, Mo.
According to the Cameron Police Department, the fire was reported just before 12:30 p.m. at A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair at 1520 Pence Road. When Cameron police, fire and ambulance officials arrived on the scene, they found a shed on the property engulfed in flames.
The Cameron Fire Department confirmed one person died in the fire, but has not yet released the victim's name.
LyDale and Ronald Sidbottom live next door and saw the flames as they left a nearby Wal-Mart.
"We thought it was our house," Ronald said. "We though we were going to lose our house."
When they returned, the realized it was the machine shed just a few hundred yards away that was on fire. They say they saw the owner of the repair shop trying to move some of diesel trucks away from the building.
"He come out and told us one guy was left in their," Ronald said. "It's just sad."
The fire department said it would not release the victim's name until his family members were notified. They plan on releasing new information Tuesday morning.
