CABOOL, Mo. - Two people died and six others were injured Sunday in a three-car accident in south-central Missouri.

One of the injured, a 5-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Two other children, ages 9 and 3, and three adults had moderate injuries.

The wreck happened a little after noon on U.S. 60 about a mile east of Cabool, the Patrol said.

According to an accident report on the Patrol’s website, 89-year-old Rose Gochal was driving a van eastbound on 60 when she failed to yield at the crossover and was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old Urbana man.

The pickup then struck a third vehicle.

Gochal and her passenger, 64-year-old Raymond Gochal, both of Mountain Grove, died at the scene.

The driver of the other two vehicles and the four passengers in the van, including the three children, were all transported to area hospitals.

All eight people involved were wearing their seat belts, according to the Patrol report.
