BOWLING GREEN, Mo. - A fourth of five inmates who escaped a Missouri jail over the weekend was captured Monday, authorities said.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, 49-year-old Joseph A. Verive, of Elsberry, was arrested Monday afternoon near the sheriff’s office.
Verive and four other men escaped the Pike County Jail Saturday.
Authorities determined that the escapees had removed a stainless steel shower head controller. They then gained access to a service area and exited the building in Bowling Green, which is 70 miles northwest of St. Louis.
Three men, Jacob Darnell, 22, Jason Darnell, 25, and Emanuel G. Chatman, 27, all of Louisiana, Mo., were arrested early Monday morning in Midwest City, Okla.
A sheriff’s office spokesman said Verive was found walking near Pike County Road 411 and Highway 161.
Still on the run is 40-year-old William John Thomas Wilkerson Jr, of Florissant.
