ST. LOUIS - An 8-year-old St. Louis girl is being hailed a hero after she saved her classmate's life.
Hannah Underwood was eating lunch last Wednesday when fellow student Kylie Haegele began to turn red and couldn't breathe.
"I was sitting across from Hannah, and I was eating popcorn chicken, and I think I choked because I was trying to talk and eat at the same time," Kylie explained.
Her classmates yelled for help, but their cries were lost in the loud lunchroom. Hannah immediately sprang to action.
"When they were yelling and (no one came) over, I just got up and did the Heimlich maneuver," she said.
Kylie credits her friend's quick thinking with possibly saving her life.
