KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation wants you to see Chicago – their way.
The Chicago-Kansas City Expressway, or Highway CKC, is an alternative route to the Windy City that could save you 20 to 30 minutes on your drive.
MoDOT also hopes it will promote economic development in the state.
"It just gives them an alternate way to get to Chicago,” said Chris Redline, assistant district engineer with MoDOT. “It's a pretty good alternative to I-70, and if we can move any traffic off I-70, it can improve some safety."
Expect to see 800 CKC signs posted across Missouri, at a cost of more than $450,000. The money will come out of the state’s operating budget.
