LEMAY, Mo. (AP) - More than 61,000 cellphones have been added to Missouri's No Call List since Thursday, which was the first day the list was expanded to include mobile numbers.
You can add your number to the list on the Attorney General's website here: ago.mo.gov/
Gov. Jay Nixon was in St. Louis County on Thursday to sign a bill extending the existing no-call law to cellphones. Attorney General Chris Koster was with Nixon. Koster's officer maintains the No Call List.
Missouri has maintained a no-call list for landlines since 2000. Cellphone numbers added to the list are off-limits to most solicitations by phone call or text messages. Koster's office has reported getting 150 to 200 calls a week from people complaining about telemarketing calls to cellphones.
Lawmakers approved the bill in May.
Supporters say the law is important because many people now use their cellphone as their primary phone. The federal government already includes cellphone numbers on its no-call list.
